Riding across the foot of the Matterhorn’s north wall on a dirt scooter – VS

DIRT SCOOTER riding at Schwarzsee in Zermatt is a classic for us. We did it for the first time when Noah was only few months old (in a baby backpack carrier). Years after he rode it in tandem with his father, and this was his first time riding this trail alone.
The path starts at Schwarzsee and brings you across the foot of the Matterhorn’s north wall. It’s a unique experience for downhill fans of all ages.
The views of the valley are breathtaking. Along the way you’ll find several restaurants where you can enjoy a snack. You can rent the scooters for 2 hours (this is approximately the time it takes to ride down to Zermatt town), or 5 hours if you prefer to make few stops for picnic or lunch.
You can get the scooters directly at the Matterhorn glacier paradise valley station in Zermatt town; the staff will help you to carry them up into the cable car.
Anyone over 9 years old can ride alone, but it can be a bit heavy for some kids that will prefer to tandem with an adult. The best time to do this activity is in the summer months, from July to mid-October.
