Located in the district of Morges, L’Isle Palace is like Versailles in miniature. Built in 1696 by the French army officer Charles de Chandieu, it has all the French Classical style. La Venoge is the river that irrigates the beautiful vast gardens creating also a pool on the front side where duck families decorate this French scene.
After passing from one family to another, the castle was bought by the municipality in 1876. It was renovated, and today it serves different purposes including shared spaces, apartments and even school classes. Lucky students!!
Walking around the gardens, sitting on a bench by the pond, or walking along the river will make you travel to France for a moment. There are nice walks by the forest not far from the Palace. Some years ago a gorgeous “Brocante” was organized on the Palace gardens; I hope they will repeat the event.
