We tried for the first time the VTT bike park in La Berra near Gruyère in the Fribourg region. This was before they officially opened the season so the chairlift was closed. With the e-bike managed to go halfway uphill though.
The bike park has two VTT downhill trails. The blue one (Allieres, 4.8km) is a flow track with cool curves and little jumps. The red one (La Tschaka, 3.4km) has multiple jumps and banked turns or berms for experienced riders.
We biked down half of the blue trail but it was so muddy (after a rainy day), that it made it quite challenging for a complete beginner (like me). My husband was a great teacher and my son really enjoyed it and wants to try it again when it’s dry.
The park opens only in summer and can be partially or entirely closed depending on the weather. So check out beforehand. You can rent the bikes and all necessary equipment at the local bike shop.
The park and chairlift are included in the MAGIC PASS. Otherwise it’s payable (eg daily pass CHF 28 adult / CHF 18 kid).
