Today we e-biked from Lauterbrunnen up to Wengen car-free town known for its timber chalets and belle époque hotels, but also for the ski championships hosted in winter. A cable car from Wengen reaches Männlichen’s slopes and trails, with views of Eiger and Mönch peaks amongst others.
Since the cable car was modernized in 2018, you can also experience a ride on the magnificent open-air balcony, available between spring and autumn each year. We had to pay extra 5 CHF to go up in the balcony; but it was totally worth it!. Riding on the cabin roof is a unique experience, making this so-called “Royal Ride” the crowning glory of your trip up the Männlichen.
Up there the 360 degree views are breathtaking. There is a huge playground on the top and a restaurant with a big terrace. Beautiful Swiss cows complete this perfect postcard.
